Mission 2 - Fact, Feeling or Story?

Now that you've practised pausing and noticing...

Olivia Owl has another piece of wisdom to share.

Sometimes our minds are very quick.

A feeling arrives...

and our brain tries to explain it by making up a story.

Sometimes the story is true.

Sometimes it's partly true.

Sometimes our brain is just guessing.

Olivia doesn't tell us the answer.

She simply asks...

"I wonder..."

Step 1

Look at a Situation

Choose one of Olivia's Scenario Cards.

Or think about something that happened today.

Maybe...

❤️ Someone didn't smile at you.

💛 Your friend played with someone else.

💚 Someone chose another person first.

💙 You got one answer wrong.

💜 It started raining before your picnic.

Step 2

Let's wonder together.

Ask yourself...

❤️ What happened? (The fact.)

💛 How did I feel? (The feeling.)

💚 What story did my mind begin to tell?

There are no wrong answers.

We are just becoming curious.

Step 3

Could There Be Another Story?

Now Olivia gently asks...

"I wonder..."

Could there be another reason?

⭐ What else might be true?

⭐ Do I know for certain?

⭐ Is there another way to look at this?

You don't have to change your first thought.

Just see if another possibility exists.

For example:

Situation: My friend did not answer me.

Possible thought:

“They do not like me anymore.”

Olivia might ask:

🦉 What do I know for certain?

🦉 What might I be guessing?

🦉 Could there be another explanation?

Maybe:

They did not hear me.

They were busy.

They were feeling worried.

They thought I was speaking to someone else.

Remember...

There might be more than one story.

Family Chat

Take turns sharing.

Ask each other...

❤️ What happened?

💛 How did you feel?

💚 What story popped into your mind?

💙 Could there be another explanation?

Listen without trying to fix each other's answers.

Sometimes being heard is enough.

Olivia Says

"Being wise doesn't mean always being right.

It means staying curious.

Every story deserves a closer look."
