This morning I woke up feeling a little restless.
Nothing big had happened.
Nothing was wrong.
And yet my thoughts felt busy and my body felt unsettled.
I noticed myself scrolling, overthinking small decisions, and wondering why I didn’t quite feel like myself. Later, after getting a few jobs done and finally sitting down, the feeling shifted into something heavier - a quiet weight in my chest that I couldn’t fully explain.
Have you ever had days like that?
Days where emotions seem to arrive without a clear reason?
For a moment, I caught myself wanting to push the feeling away. The 'old me' might have told myself to just get on with things, stay strong, or ignore it altogether. But instead, I did something different
I paused.
I sat in my comfy chair, with one hand resting softly on my heart, I began to breathe slowly, as I watched the sheep in the field across the road, and allowed myself to just be.
And slowly… without forcing anything… the heaviness softened.
A quiet sense of 'I’m okay again' returned.
🌼 When Feelings Come and Go
We often believe emotions need big explanations or clear solutions. But sometimes feelings are simply part of being human.
Our bodies release tension.
Our minds process little moments we don’t even realise we’ve been carrying.
And just like waves, emotions rise and fall in their own time.
Children experience this too.
They might feel wobbly or emotional without knowing why. As adults, it can be tempting to fix or distract straight away, but often what they need most is gentle space - a calm presence that says:
"It’s okay to feel, and it’s okay for feelings to pass."
💛 Learning to Be Kinder to Ourselves
Today reminded me that emotional wellbeing isn’t about never feeling low or unsettled. It’s about learning to meet ourselves with kindness when we do.
Not every feeling needs a lesson.
Not every moment needs to be productive.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is sit quietly, breathe, and let the wave move through.
And when calm returns - even softly - we notice it.
🌈 A Gentle Reminder
If today feels a little heavy for you or your child, you don’t need to rush to understand it all.
Pause.
Breathe.
Notice the small safe moments around you.
Sometimes, without any big reason at all, a quiet "I’m okay again" arrives - and that is more than enough.
